Thomas Feichtner

Prof. Thomas Feichtner is an internationally established product designer as well as head of the Institute of Industrial Design at the FH-Joanneum in Graz. He studied industrial design at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz and has designed numerous products for international brands such as Swarovski, Laufen, Bene, Adidas, Head, Absolut, Lobmeyr or Augarten and realised projects in cooperation with companies such as Vitra, Thonet and FSB. His works are positioned between industry and manufacture, between serial products and individual pieces and have found their way into various design collections. International exhibitions followed, such as at the Triennale di Milano, the International Biennial of Design in Saint Etienne or the MAK — Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art in Vienna. Thomas Feichtner has been awarded international design prizes and received the Austrian State Prize for Design in 2011. From 2009 to 2014 he was professor for product design at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts in Kiel and has been a board member of designaustria, the Austrian professional association for design in Austria, since 2018.
